You have some nice snapshots for your album, a couple that are better than the others, and several that should have been deleted because they are out of focus. The best one IMO, although underexposed, was your friend drinking diet Coke fresh out of the pool. Nicely framed, good detail, and an appealing expression. The closeups are not remotely in focus, so it doesn’t matter that one flower is an inch more to the right than the other. Delete them both. The church and tree in sunset are also not sharp. The other people shots were simple snapshots, great to remember those good times in the future.
You say you have been at it a “while” and you are disappointed with your results. How long a while has it been? You have to work on getting better, it won’t just happen by itself. You have to learn some things and them apply your new knowledge in practice. The best way for many people to learn the craft of photography is to take a class and/or join a group in your local area. Find a mentor, a family shutterbug or a teacher who would love to help you and give honest critique. Visit your library or bookstore and check out a few books on the basics of photography and composition, even if your camera is a P&S. Look at good images in magazines and websites (NOT myspace, but a good photo site like Photo.net, betterphoto.com etc) Study the pictures for lighting and composition. Learn to recognize good light when you see it. Learn how to frame your picture to lead the viewer into it to see what you saw. Begin learning and keep practicing and you will see your own images improve. Best wishes and happy shooting!
