Tips For Selecting Your Wedding Photographer
The memory of your wedding day will be a lasting impression in your mind, but having the perfect wedding photographs will keep your wedding memories alive forever! Choosing the right wedding photographer for the job can be as difficult as choosing the right venue for some people, so arming yourself with the following tips can quickly cut down on the amount of time it takes to find the perfect wedding photographer for you.
•It is best to consider a photographer that you know personally, have been referred to by a personal friend, or someone in your area that you have seen their photographs first hand.
• Photography is an art and therefore you must seek out the right photographer for your needs. You wouldn’t hire a chemical engineer if you needed a computer engineer, so why would you hire a scenic photographer when you needed a wedding photographer, right? It is best to seek out a photographer that specializes in wedding photography and has experience in both indoor and outdoor posing.
• Decide on the type of photographs that you expect from your wedding as it’s best to set the expectation right from the beginning. Any experienced wedding photographer will be familiar with the customary wedding poses and preferences of most couples. However, if you plan to have a lot of “action” shots in your wedding, you might want to think about a photojournalist who specializes in weddings. By doing this, you allow yourself the best of both worlds. • The cost should be discussed upfront and agreed upon in writing by both sides. A professional wedding photographer will most likely have wedding packages available to choose from, but you will find that most allow you to customize your own based on your personal needs.
• Find out what type of media that your photographer plans to utilize for your documenting your big day. Will he only be taking still photographs? Will video coverage be included? Is touchup and editing of professional standard? Are the rights to your photographs your own? Can you make your own prints or must you order from the photographer? How many different sized photos will be included? Make sure that you know not only what you’re paying, but what you’re paying for!
• Nothing is more important in a wedding photographer than his/her personality. Your wedding day is supposed to be filled with joy and happiness, so you will want to find a professional with a great personality that will have the ability to converse with your guests and make everyone feel comfortable.
• Ensure that the person that you have chosen (based on his/her portfolio, personality, etc.) is the photographer that will actually be taking your wedding photos. Nothing is a bigger surprise than to have paid for the perfect wedding photographer only to have a stranger show up on his behalf on your treasured day.
