Wedding Photography As A Career

Wedding Photography as a career? (not starting a business)?
I’ve been trying to decide what I want to go to college for and whatnot. Im only in ninth grade but I only have a few more years. Im really into photography and I do it whenever I get the chance. So I actually have a few questions, but I would greatly appreciate someone answering all of them.
1. What are the skills needed to do wedding photography?
2. What major would I need to get? (and how many years)
3. Are there like wedding photography buildings or businesses where I could get a job?
4. How much money would it take to get my career started? (buying cameras and equipment)
5. Is location important?
6. Can you even do wedding photography without your own business?
1) 50% photography skills, 50% business skills. You will need to be a skilled photographer with good reliable equipment, good reliable back up equipment and Photoshop knowledge. You will also need a very good business plan with insurance and knowledge on how to run a business (this is the part that can be the hardest!).
2) No major necessary, no qualifications are necessary to be any kind of photographer (I hold no degree yet I make money as a side job as a photographer). You MUST have worked as an assistant/second photographer with a professional wedding photographer for at least a year or two before attempting one on your own.
3) Contact pros, ask around, they are not going to come to you.
4) Thousands… Not just the equipment (camera bodies, lenses, flashes etc) needed but back up equipment, software, computer hardware.
5) If you are from a small town with population 200 then relocating would probably be a good idea.
6) Not sure what you mean by this?..
