Choosing A Photography School
There are many places you can learn photography, but what is the right place for you? Sure there are online schools and courses, but they won’t give you the hands on information you need. You need other students and the teacher’s eye to become a better photographer. The online classes do have their uses for instance giving you the basic information to study. It can be difficult to choose the right school. Some require recommendation while others are apart of colleges.
The information you wish to glean from a photography class will make part of the decision for you. For instance in a college setting that does not specialize in photography will offer the basic levels, but may not offer you an internship with a professional photographer in your field. If you are looking for photography as a hobby these basic level classes will often give you the information you need to produce pictures you can be proud of.
Specialized schools as with any others will allow for more information on a specific topic. Most specialized schools will allow you to work with a professional to learn the specifics of your profession as well as expand your knowledge. This helps you learn quicker and learn more about the techniques used in photography while having hands on experience.
The best way to choose a photography school is to decide what you want from your photography. Once you have decided that you can move on to finding out how to apply. Some photography schools are part of a studio and allow for anyone to sign up for a class. Other schools require you to attend a college or university first for basic photography and intern before you go on to the specialized school.
Searching online will lead you to the schools available in your area and across the country. You will be able to find the application as well as descriptions of every class they offer. The sites will also list the qualifications you have to attend the school and what classes you will need to take to become a photographer. Although the experience you receive from a classroom is better, online classes teach you what you need to know.
Some classes that you will need to will be in lighting, composition, and other basics. Depending on your field you will then need to branch out in studying ways to capture the subject. Like portrait photography you will need to understand angles, light, balances, and how to elicit the reactions you need from the subject. Digital photography is the new way to take photographs and there are a few different techniques to learn from the older manual cameras.
Photography schools can help you become more adapt at taking photographs. You may decide you need a little help to step up from being the point and shoot type to a more complicated camera or you might decide there is a career for you. There are many types of schools for you and online sources will help you find it. Online photography classes can be helpful for you learning techniques, but you will still want other people to help you find your eye for art. If you have worked with manual cameras in the past chances are you will want to take a digital photography course when you switch.
To touch on one more type of school we need to delve into underwater photography. Most colleges and other photography schools associated with studios do not specialize in underwater photography. It is often best to seek out a dive school for a basic course. You might decide to delve further and find an underwater photography school. Underwater photography has always been a unique and interesting hobby or profession. Seeing the results of your work is like nothing else one can imagine. When you look at the color and the amazing views, you will understand underwater photography more.

Photography $33.95 PHOTOGRAPH PLATE i Frontispiece Coating a gelatin dry plate by hand. PHOTOGRAPHY By C. E. KENNETH MEES D. Sc DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EASTMAN KODAK. COMPANY ROCHESTER, NEW YORK SECOND EDITION, REVISED NEW YORK THE MACMILLAN COMPANY 1951 Preface to Second Edition THE rapid progress in photography since the first edition of this book was published has made neces sary a revision of some of the chapters. The discovery of the structure of the developed silver image re vealed by the electron microscope has changed and clarified our views as to the process of development. At the same time, the theory of the formation of the latent image has become much more definite. The development of the tripack processes has revolutionized the practice of color photography, which is now in the full tide of an unparalleled ex pansion. Chapters IV, VI, and VIII have accordingly been revised to cover the changes in photographic theory and practice. Rochester, N. Y. December i, 1941 Preface PHOTOGRAPHY is both an art and a science it is an invaluable tool to those working in the other arts and sciences, and there are few activities of civilized man in which it has no part. There are many books on the art of photography, some of which are intended for beginners or for those to whom photography is only an amusement, while others deal in a comprehensive manner with photo graphic technique and its applications. This book, which had its origin in a course of lectures given last Christmas at the Royal Institution in London, is intended to provide a general review of the whole subject of photography written in a simple and popu lar style. The Christmas lectures have been given for more than a century andare intended especially for young people. By custom, the lectures consist largely of experiments and demonstrations, which have neces sarily been replaced in the book by description and illustrations. Photographic science is derived both from physics and from chemistry The preparation of the photo graphic material and its treatment after exposure may Vlll PREFACE be regarded as a branch of applied chemistry the exposure and the relation of that exposure to the photographic image involves the principles of physical optics. But photography has become differentiated from its parent sciences, and there has been developed a science of photography with a literature, a terminol ogy, and an instrumental technique of its own. From the laboratories which are engaged in the study of photographic science will come the future develop ments in the practical art of photography. It has been my fortune to be associated rather closely with the historical development of the subject. In 1901, while a student at the university, my atten tion was directed to the work of Hurter and Driffield, the photographic amateurs whose investigations laid the foundation for all subsequent work on photo graphic sensitometry and from that time, I have been engaged in the study of the science of pho togr |

ReadingWriting Connections in Eap Courses $156.13 At higher education settings, summarization skills are essential to academic success. However, research on summarization appear to have been relatively neglected, and consequently many more are needed. To this end, 120 EFL students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Iran were selected: the three experimental groups were subjected to the taskbased language teaching principles in the treatment. two reading comprhension texts ( one as a pretest, the other a posttest)were assigned to the four groups involved, and they were all required to write up two summary protocols for each text they read, one in English, and another in Persian. In the experimental groups, summary writing was mediated by a particular teaching task while for the control groupthere was no mediating task. Afterwards, the performance of all subject groups was evaluated based on a crosslinguistic evaluation scale to determine a)if taskbased language teaching had any significant effect on learners reading comprehension and b)if the L1 of the subjects contributed to a better comprehnsion of the texts they read. Finally, the conclusions and pedagogical implications of the research for EAP courses were highlighted. Factors Affecting Retention in Online Courses. $115.71 The purpose of this study was to expand what is known regarding the factors that relate to successful completion of online, undergraduate college courses. It addressed 13 student factors available through archival data at Northern Kentucky University based on 1,493 students enrolled in fully online courses in fall 2008. It included programmatic membership as the fourteenth variable. The study employed both logistic regression analysis and multiple regression analysis. The dependent variable for the logistic regression analysis was dichotomous based on completion of all online courses with a grade of D or better (yes or no). The dependent variable for the multiple regression analysis was a continuous variable, percentage of online courses completed. The following variables were found to have a positive relationship to successful completion of online courses: applying for financial assistance, GPA, senior year in college, major in health and human sciences, major in a STEM field, and tuition residency of metro rate. The following variables were found to have a negative relationship to successful completion of online courses: race of Black and freshman year in college. The freshman year in college only showed as a significant variable in the multiple regression analysis. Author: Berling, Victoria L.
