How can I get a degree in BOTH Photography and Graphic Design? How do majors and minors work?
Both BFAs offer courses in the other, but focus primarily on one or the other. If I completed a BFA in Graphic Design, could I go back, already have taken the core requirements, and take only the major requirments for Photography to earn that degree? How do double majors work? I have NO idea how a majors and minors work…
If you want to earn both degrees at the same university, then you should be able to do exactly what you describe – apply the prerequisites you took for Graphic Design to the Photography degree, assuming they are the same. Before you start down this path by actually taking classes, however, go to an academic adviser in the department/school to confirm first that you can do this and second that there is no “application process” required to ensure you will be awarded both degrees.
You would only be able to be formally recognized with, say, a major in Graphic Design and a MINOR in Photography if your department offers that option. Many universities do not offer “minors”, meaning that you would have nothing on your transcript after graduation that indicated you had completed a formal program in Photography. A lot of schools now offer certificate programs, “areas of concentration”, etc. in lieu of minors. That would also be a question that can really only be answered by an academic adviser in your specific department.

Electroshock and Minors: A FiftyYear Review $145.82 In an attempt to explore the explanations why psychiatrists continue to use electroshock with minors already at risk from damage, this text investigates reasons why electroshock remains popular, despite the widespread availability of proven psychosocial alternatives. The text locates all of the literature since the 1940s about the use of electroshock with minors from three years of age through adolescence. Since the introduction of shock with children and teenagers, the province of psychiatry has been expanded to include minors as young as three. A fiftyyear overview of shock use by psychiatrists with minors is provided, with an analysis of reasons for its popularity among some medical staff. The review includes results from a metaanalysis study that reports data from over 200 previously published clinical cases. These results indicate that there is no clinical rationale for the use of shock with children and teenagers. Moreover, there are many reasons not to give shock, including ethical, philosophical, moral, and humanistic objections. The continued use of electroshock by psychiatrists persists only due to the clinical independence of medical staff. There are no controlled evaluations, no randomized controlled trials, no controlled clinical trials, and no single case studies that report outcome data from electroshock given under scientific conditions to minors. Rather, the entire published literature is based on anecdotal reports from uncontrolled interventions. The text explores the ethical position of mental health staff who are in the same arena. Alternatives to electroshock are explored in the context of services for children and teenagers with mental health needs.
