Freelance photography for insurance companies?
I found a website that claims to help photographers find jobs
taking freelance photos of commercial & residential property,
vehicles, warehouses, etc. for insurance companies and banks.
Presumably they need to keep track of their interest for some reason
and don’t have enough adjustors to send out on all the routine checks
that need to be done. Is this a legitimate business, and what is this work called by the insurance companies? Also, the guy who offers this guide says that it’s not necessary to have a professional camera, that a regular digital camera will do most of the time. Should I invest the $20 into this?
Sounds scammy to me….
Insurance adjusters are usually professional people, who know how to asses damage and put a price tag on it. Taking pictures is their responsibility, and it requires no skill as a photographer. All they need is snap the photos of damages to include them into file, and to use as evidence in any disputes if they arise. I’ve never seen an insurance adjuster accompanied by a photographer, nor a photographer without an adjuster…
So just $20 for a nice job requiring no skill or serious equipment… Doesn’t it sound a bit too good to be true? And we know well, if it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.
LEM.
