Photography Themes And Ideas

Any photography theme ideas?
In my photography class we have to take 20 photos of each composition( rule of thirds – vertical, horizontal, intersection points.leading lines – natural, man made. natural & man made frame, bird’s eye view and worm’s eye view. high and low horizon line. centre of interest – single and double. close ups – big close ups, medium shot, long shot. macro. mood and a before and after shot of distractions). But they have to have some sort of theme. I live close to the beach and a lake, but people are already taking photos there… so any ideas?
I did a similar project for my college photography class, and my theme was numbers. If there was 20 photos, I’d find the numbers 1-20 anywhere and photograph it. Examples: door number, street names, jersey number, old liscence plate road signs, someone holding up fingers, etc. You have to be really creative and into it to get it all done. I had a lot of fun doing it, and my teacher thought it was fun to find all the numbers – kinda like a game. Some of the numbers were hidden – you had to really think about it.
Have fun and good luck on your project!

Photography and Ireland (Paperback) $57.56 Outside of Ireland, ideas of Irish photography center around picturesque tourist views of the emerald green of the Irish landscape and photojournalistic representations of The Troubles. Justin Carville sets out in Photography and Ireland to change this perception, to give attention instead to depictions of its social transformations, political upheavals, and geographical reimaginings as a colony, nation, province, and sovereign state. As Carville demonstrates, photography not only has documented these transformations but has also helped shape how Ireland is viewed, both by itself and the rest of the world. Photography and Ireland explores the role of the photographic image in the colonial and postcolonial visual cultures of Ireland from the nineteenth century to the present day, and it emphasizes the transnational dimension of photography in Ireland, including foreign photographers who have contributed their images to the cultural imagination. Accessibly written and accompanied by a wealth of images, including commercial portraits and landscapes, ethnographic photography, photojournalism, and documentary works, Photography and Ireland explores the formation of an indigenous photographic culture in Ireland through a number of interrelated themes. |

Baudrillard Reframed $25 Jean Baudrillard has been a unique intellectual voice in many of the key debates and issues facing an increasingly globalized, media-driven world. “Baudrillard Reframed” offers the arts student, and others working with Baudrillard’s ideas, an accessible overview of his better known arguments, as well as extending beyond them to critically engage with his radical notions of illusion, singularity, and the fatal. Kim Toffoletti surveys the ideas of this influential — often provocative — French thinker as they relate to today’s image-saturated environment. She demonstrates their relevance to analyzing contemporary visual phenomena such as advertising, photography, reality TV, fashion, art, pornography, and virtual reality. Baudrillard’s key themes and arguments are illustrated through a range of visual works, from the graffiti art of Banksy and Katherine Hamnettis protest t-shirts, to Sophie Calleis photography. |
