Photography Guide Nyc
New York City art galleries, which is the best and why?

I’m planning to visit New York City in August this year and am really keen to visit some art galleries. One problem though: it’s just me and a friend, and unfortunately that friend isn’t at all interested in art.

Obviously, I don’t want to make my friend visit every art gallery in NYC when she isn’t going to enjoy it. And whilst I don’t mind going off alone, that would kind of defy the idea of taking a trip together.

So, I guess my question is, if I can choose just ONE art gallery during my visit, which one should I go for and why?

As a guide, I’m interested in a wide variety of art, but particularly anything from the 1800′s onwards is what I like most. Also, enjoy photography and sculpture, and anything a little out of the ordinary (without being just plain weird).

If your friend is not that into art you might want to try gallery hopping on Thursday nights, independent galleries open new shows on Thursdays and usually have wine and appetizers, so your friend can drink and eat, also even if you are not to into art going gallery hopping is almost like a night out on the town, you get to walk around and the shows are very social rather then stiff museums.

also, if you do want to go toe the Metropolitan museum of art is it called the MET not the MMA if you ever ask a new yorker where the MMA is they will have no idea what you are talking about……….if you say the MET you a garanteeded great directions.

Good Luck and enjoy NYC………its the best!
