Have you thought of Canon A710 IS. It is 7 MP, Image stabilized, 6x optical zoom, uses only 2 AA batteries and has excellent picture quality. Just a suggestion coz I just bought it after comparing it with Canon S3IS. It was a good choice for me and it is much compact than s3is. check this camera at
