Which camera is better?

Okay, so my brothers girlfriend has a really good camera (the Canon Rebel) and since both were in the photograph she told me to look a little camera on eBay because there were some very cheap there. I clearly would give the nod to Nikon, but you can take excellent photos with two. The Nikon is not 99 cents, however. The minimum bid is 99 cents plus $ 12 for shipping, and the auction does not close for two days. Price final sale is much more than that. (I've been a professional photographer for 50 years).
