News Photography Internships
calling Journos, Journalism Professors & students – any tips?
I’m in my mid-20s & heading back to uni to study Social Science & Economics. My goal is to become a working journalist & maybe one day(fingers crossed) a Foreign Correspondent.
Any tips? I’ll need to do a lot of study myself as I not taking a journalism specific course. I figure I need the following:
– reporting: hard news sense, shorthand & 2nd language (French?)
- writing: grammar & spelling, start a blog
- Software & web applications: HTML, flash etc
- photography & video
- media ethics & law
- research skills & resources: reliable web sources, news sources
- work experience & internships
- specialisation
Any more help, ideas, tips? Even links to resources or other pages would be great. The uni doesn’t have a big paper so I’m on my own a little bit.

well like wouldn’t a communication skill work, or else you might not do so well when interviewing, i mean i wouldn’t know a whole lot i’m only 14, but i’ve taken newspaper two years in a row was a reporter for my 7th grade year and i’m co-editor this year, learning to edit your own paper might help too, and knowing what kind of stories you would like to write ranging frm hard news, entertainment, sports things like that. well hope i helped
