Ir Filters Photography

Are there ANY IR infrared filters for the Nikon D40?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?
So I’m interested in trying out some infrared photography, yet I have no clue which IR filters will fit the D40…? Maybe a general size in mm or some types?? Answers greatly appreciated!
First, determine if your camera is IR capable. Point a TV remote at your lens and open the shutter. If you see a red dot then your camera does not have an IR cut-off filter. If there’s no red dot then you’ll have to replicate the IR effect with an editing program. I suggest going to http://www.shutterbug.com and typing ‘digital road to infrared’ in the Search box. If you’d like more information on infrared photography just type ‘infrared’ in the Search box.
Filters fit the lens, not the camera. Take your camera to a real camera shop and ask their assistance. Even if you don’t buy an IR filter you can at least buy a Haze/UV filter to protect your front element and a lens cleaning cloth to keep the filter clean.
