Wedding photography by a studio photographer

Weddings are busy, emotional and stressful days, and it is not surprising that amidst all the fuss, the wedding photos sometimes fall short of the mark. That’s why many married couples opt to have a second session in state-of-the-art photographic studios.

Such an experience offers the opportunity to try something a little different to the staged traditional shots associated with wedding photographs.

Venture does not do traditional wedding photography; it offers bespoke photography sessions through a nationwide network of professional photography studios.

Away from the stress-inducing big-day, Venture offers a relaxed, comfortable and professional atmosphere to celebrate this important event.

Brides can get their dress back on and the grooms can climb back in their suit to capture some totally different – and perfect – wedding memories.

After their honeymoon in some faraway destination, couples come back relaxed, tanned and ready to start their new life together. This is when many people decide to let a photography professional tell the real story of their relationship.

A Venture photo experience allows the portrait photographer to get to the very root of a couple and find out what makes them tick, to create a unique portrait.

During the hour in the photo studio, couples can try out all manner of weird and wonderful things.

Afterwards, Venture’s digital artists can work their magic on the portraits, playing around with colours, backgrounds and styles to fashion a contemporary work of art.

The images are then unveiled in an exclusive viewing where the happy couple pick out their favourites from the photo experience. Once this has been done, they can choose exclusive frames and displays that can suit all tastes and styles.

Photography and China (Paperback)

Photography and China (Paperback)

With its lush and diverse landscapes, ancient ruins, and stunning architecture, China is a photographer`s dream. Exploring this visually rich and evocative country, Photography and China highlights Chinese photographers and subjects from the inception of photography to the present day.Drawing on works in museums, and archival and private collections across China, the United States, Europe, and Australia, Claire Roberts locates images from commercial, art, and documentary photography within the broader context of Chinese history. She focuses on the images as well as the studios and individuals who created them, describing the long tradition of Chinese artistic culture into which photography was first absorbed and subsequently expanded. As she recounts the stories of practitioners?from China and overseas?who were agents in that process of change, she also examines the commercial, political, and artistic purposes for which they used photography. Featuring one hundred striking, little-known images, Photography and China will make a significant contribution to photography, Chinese art, and twentieth-century history.

If one can define art as a creative activity resulting in a visual representation of imaginative designs, then making a photograph can be an art form. This form can be an image to convey emotions, relationships or ideas. Photographic equipment and technique are mere extensions of the creative process to produce this image. In his photographs, Andy has tried to capture the exquisite details that are transiently or never seen, whether they be vivid colors, or confluence of design and function. If, for instance, he photographed a flower as he initially saw it, the flower would be small and without detail. If he enlarges the image (thereby a macro), the details are more evident and are seen more clearly. Then one takes time to look at nature more carefully and to see things not really seen before. Yet macros are not Andys only interests. Photographs can record a moment in time, features of the environment, unusual colors, fascinating contours that can be stored for all posterity and brought up again and again to enhance memory and stimulate emotions. But the quest continues, to produce an image that is beyond the ordinary one that you look at and say Wow. Since its introduction nearly 200 years ago, photography has become part of everyday life, a position consolidated by the recent development of digital imaging and manipulation. Used to confirm identity, to sell products, to reshape the real, to visualize the news, to record and communicate the personal moment, and as an art form in its own right, photography is now one of the most accessible and pervasive of media. Photography: The Key Concepts provides an ideal guide to the place of photography in our society and to the extraordinary range of photographic genres. Outlining the history of photography and explaining the body of theory which has built up around its use, the book guides the reader through the genres of documentary, portraiture, landscape, still life, art and global photography. Illustrated with a range of historical and contemporary images and case material, this book is essential reading for anyone interested in photography.

 Early Warner Bros. Studios

Early Warner Bros. Studios

$18.69

Since 1928, Warner Bros. has produced thousands of beloved films and television shows at the studio’s magical 110-acre film factory in Burbank. This collection of evocative images concentrates on the Warner Bros. legacy from the 1920s to the 1950s, when timeless classics such as Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and East of Eden came to life. It also looks at WB’s earlier homes along Hollywood’s “Poverty Row,” the birthplace of Looney Tunes, and the site of WB’s pioneering marriage between film and sound in the 1920s. Early Warner Bros. Studios also tells the tale of four brothers–Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack Warner–scions of a Polish Jewish immigrant family who rose from the humblest of origins to become Hollywood moguls of enormous and lasting influence.

Edgar Miller and the Handmade Home: Chicago's Forgotten Renaissance Man

Edgar Miller and the Handmade Home: Chicago’s Forgotten Renaissance Man

$30.85

Embracing old-world skills in a technological age, Edgar Miller was Chicago’s last Renaissance artist. He was a fine painter, a master wood carver, and one of the nation’s foremost stained glass designers. He could sculpt, draw hunting portraits, and was considered a pioneer in the use of graphic art in modern advertising. His artistic genius came together in four artistic studios he built on Chicago’s north side in the 1920s and 1930s. He touched almost every inch of the studios with daring and surprise. He took rustic brick, crude stone, salvaged tile, found glass, steel, and wood, then “Edgarized” the homes with stained glass windows, frescos, murals, tile work, and wood carving. This collection contains over 400 images of the homes, which remarkably remain intact today.
