What are the best computers for Games, Photography, and Graphic Design?
My husband and I are looking to buy a desktop computer pretty soon. But we don’t want to have a computer that wont hold up to what we are going to be using it for. My husband and I both like to play games lol like rollercoaster tycoon and sims and stuff..[we are young 
] But i do freelance photography and i like to do graphic design, and make webpages and stuff..so i will need a lot of space for photoshop and macromedia flash, just things of that sort. Any ideas of what we should get?
I guess the problem is, there’s not really a right answer to this, there are so many different ways to go.
What I’d suggest is really trying out as many angles as you can, finding the best fit for you.
If you buy the very latest tech, the price will be premium, however if you buy a configuration that has been out for a while, I’m talking a few months, you’ll get more bang for you buck.
There is no doubt that the very best computer for photography and graphics would be apple, however you’ll be spending 3x the amount of money on the same spec mac as you would on a pc, so again just by looking at your bang to buck ratio, you can offset the cost. For sheer grunt you’ll get allot more out of pc, penny for penny. Again the only real answer here is to try out both pc and mac for yourself, see how you feel. Be wary of the apple shop, it’s staffed by apple fan boys who think they are part of some kind of cult, no perspective.
Next thing is try to get good components. I would go for a custom build myself, but be wary of bargain basement Ram and graphics cards. Stuff that might look great on paper might not be so hot in actual use. Quality parts will pay for themselves.
Think to the future. the rate at which your spanking new pc turns into a relic is frightening, try to forestall this by buying for the future. 2GB of RAM sounds allot now, but it wont by the time Windows 7 comes out. get 4GB of RAM and a dual core chip, that should keep you going into the future.
Trust your friends. If one of your friends has had a good experience, that word of mouth recommendation is worth allot, really think about going the same route.
Get a few quotes around the same spec’d machine. It’s always a buyers market for computers, especially now, drive hard on price, ask for upgrades.
Lastly if you run photoshop allot think about a 64x bit operating system, use it with a dual core chip, max out on ram and set your scratch disk to a secondary (intenal) drive, and PS will fly
