what video camera is right for me?

I’m looking to buy a video camera (camcorder, not digital camera with video capabilities). I’d like it to have decent optical and digital zoom (like 25x and 800x+, maybe?), take still photos fairly well (my digital camera is worn out, lol). I’ll need to be able to easily upload the videos to the computer, I don’t know exactly what that requirement is called, lol… and the video quality should be nice and clear when burned to a CD.

From the description, SD memory card, take still photos, PC connection, I am assuming that you want a digital camcorder. From the price range you gave, here are some choices:

Hitachi DZGX20A (MY BEST choice) – 240 x Digital zoom, 10 x Optical zoom, 3″ DVD-R, 2.7 in LCD, SD Memory Card, $420
(it saves straight to DVD!!!, no need to connect to PC)

Canon ZR700 – 1000 x Digital zoom, 25 x Optical zoom, 2.7 in LCD, Mini DV, SD Memory Card, $302.
