^ i cant decide which one. i lean one way, then the other. one has better hd video, the other has better design.. they are about the same on picture quality [i believe] and i’m not sure which has MORE manual control [they both have somewhat.]
* yes, i know these are not in the class of SLRs. but this is the best i can afford & i want one that has the best features & quality for photography.. i take my camera everywhere and want something advanced for its class

Both are good cameras, but neither really has any of the features that you’d expect from an SLR type camera. The Canon optics have a better range and better quality. The comments there state that it has the best image quality for its class.
The features that are associated with SLR cameras are that the viewfinder looks through the same lens as the picture will be taken with (though this has become somewhat less of an issue with compacts all featuring ‘live view’), near zero shutter lag, fully manual controls, interchangeable lenses for different situations and the ability to mount external accessories such as a hot shoe based flash.
That isn’t to say either of those cameras are a bad choice, just don’t be disappointed that they don’t have any ‘SLR like’ properties.
