Good digital camera? Good zoom function?

I'm looking for a new digital camera that has a good zoom function. The camera zoom today is not so great. I'm considering a Canon PowerShot S5 IS is on sale at Office Depot this week. Is this a good camera? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

Canon S5 IS is a good camera. , Good optical zoom (12x). One thing that needs attention, Its used AA batteries. It will last shorter than the lithium-ion battery. A Li-ion battery is 7.4V. Eletricity energy formula, P = I x V (I amp voltages V). If 4 AA batteries are connected in series, then the voltage to 4.8 V rechargeable battery, up to 6 V to regular batteries. Among cam. and cam. in the same class as the Power mostlly it and then P = I x 7.4, P = I x 4.8 or 6. Of course, the cam. with higher needs AA batteries amps use the lithium-ion battery. That is why the AA batteries last less than … But the choice is persionally. It should be clear on the information of the cameras before getting one. Good luck!
