What’s a really good camera to get for a student going into photography?

I need to go and buy a camera for someone who is going to school for photography, money is not an object.

If you’re seriously about photography, the DSLR camera is your best choice. Almost all DSLR cameras have an ability to change lens. They all produce much better images than point-and-shoot cameras.

If you would consider Canon, I recomend the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. It’s the newest entry-level DSLR from Canon. By the way, if you can afford more, consider the pro-level like Canon EOS 50D.
