Global Competition Law and Economics (Paperback) $200.37 Global markets have made antitrust law global as well. With mergers requiring approval in multiple jurisdictions, cartels in one nation affecting supply in others, and countries entering into treaties about the content or enforcement of competition laws, firms and antitrust lawyers no longer have the luxury of considering only the antitrust regulations of one nation. Antitrust law worldwide is also increasingly economic in its approach to analysing antitrust and competition policy. In the four yearssince the first edition, the globalization of antitrust law has continued apace. China has adopted an antitrust law. The EU has adopted a new Treaty, new guidelines on non-horizontal mergers, new regulations and guidelines on vertical agreements, and a Guidance Paper on abuses of dominance. In the US there have been important new Supreme Court cases (the 2009 Linkline and 2010 American Needle decisions) and the incorporation of modern economic approaches in the revised 2010 U.S. Merger Guidelines. This edition addresses new developments not only in the US and EU, but also in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, and South Korea. It also expands its coverage to add not only China`s new antitrust law, but also the antitrust laws of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela. This is the most global and economically sophisticated antitrust casebook on the market. Addressed to students from all jurisdictions having competition laws, it will also serve as a useful reference for practitioners, competition officials, and policy-makers interested in competition law anywhere in the world. |

Winter Sport in Australia $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles While generally viewed as country more suited to summer sport (the mock Smiggin Holes 2010 Winter Olympic bid required Australias tallest mountain to be raised 1,000 feet with rubbish), several winter sports take place in Australia.Skiing in Australia began as a sport in the 19th century, probably at Kiandra in 1861. Australia receives snow in the Australian Alps and parts of Tasmania. The Australian Alps are within driving range for weekend trips for residents of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, while Tasmanian ski slopes are within day trip range for residents of the state. However, there are no runs long or fast enough for the downhill competition and the season is quite short, with the snow skiable for only about 3 months per year. Photography and Australia by Ennis, Helen Edition ILL, 0 $23.99 With its moving landscapes and famously independent cultural traditions, Australia is uniquely suited to having its national narrative told through visual documentation. Helen Ennis gathers here a selection of photographs that recount the story of Australia, and through this visual chronicle, she uncovers a distinctively Australian visual culture. The striking images featured in Photography and Australia, drawn from the National Library of Australia and other public collections, powerfully document the iconic sights of the rugged Australian landscape such as the imposing Ayers Rock, as well as documentary photographs, wilderness shots, post-mortem studies of bushrangers, and other images both quotidian and extraordinary. One of the leading photography historians in Australia, Ennis argues that the colonial experience is a central element of these visual testaments, and embedded within this experience are the tumultuous relations between white settlers and Aboriginal peoples. Her analysis explores how the photographs reveal the racial, social, and political tensions woven throughout Australian history, ranging from modern works by Aboriginal photographers to archival photographs of desolate mining towns and the peoples who eked out their living from the brutal terrain. The photographers’ personal perspectives are also embedded in the images, Photography and Australia argues, and the book examines how photographers’ responses to place, modernity, and globalization were expressed through their works.            Photography and Australia unearths an original and engaging perspective on Australian history, weaving a wealth of vibrant images into a compelling account that will appeal to the Aussie in all of us.  |
