what are the chances to get a job after college with a major in film media and photography?
my friends are on those majors, and usually tease me because i’m taking up Nursing.
I’m always the one who cancels hang outs with them because i have lots of things to do in school and harder classes.
It makes me insecure. ![]()
I also love Film Literature and might take it as a minor.
I don’t know.
But I know i can get a job right away as a nurse after college.
i don’t have a problem taking up Nursing…i actually wanted to be a flight nurse and probably travel someday. Every country in the world needs nurses!
Take ‘em up as minors. Do it. Do what you love. What good is having a nursing job if you hate it?
They’re teasing you because they don’t understand. I’m majoring in neuroscience so I know how hard the pre-med/ish stuff can be. Keep the nose to the books and keep on working. They might have more time, and maybe for now they’re glad they get to “fool around” but if nursing is what you love, do it!
If you hate nursing and want to do the other majors, go for that. But don’t just do it because your friends are in it. Live YOUR life.

Harmful to Minors $10.48 Now available in paperback, Judith Levine’s controversial book challenges American attitudes towards child and adolescent sexuality-especially attitudes promulgated by a Christian right that has effectively seized control of how sex is taught in public schools. The author-a thoughtful and persuasive journalist and essayist-examines the consequences of "abstinence" only education and its concomitant association of sex with disease, and the persistent denial of pleasure. She notes the trend toward pathologizing young children’s eroticized play and argues that Americans should rethink the boundaries we draw in protecting our children from sex. This powerful and illuminating work was nominated for the 2003 Los Angeles Times Book Prize. |

That’s Photography $27.08 The basic principles underlying the photographic art of Andreas Feininger are clarity, simplicity, and organization. The eldest son of painter Lyonel Feininger, he was born in Paris in 1906. Upon completion of training as a cabinet-maker at the Bauhaus in Weimar in the early 20s, he went on to study architecture in the state schools of Weimar and Zerbst. It was while working as an architectural photographer in Stockholm that he developed the sweeping vistas and fine balance for which his pictures were famous. Emigrating to New York following the outbreak of World War II, Feininger was hired as a photo-editor by Life magazine. In his own work, he captured images of urban canyons, sky-scrapers, bridges, and elevated railways in concentrated, atmospheric photographs that are regarded as classical works today. He applied the same enthusiasm to nature studies: his detail images of insects, flowers, shells, wood, and stones imbue these forms with a sculptural character. That’s Photography presents the work of this classic photographer, who died in 1999. |
